Introduction of the new board!
We are pleased to announce that as of last month we: Florine, Marloes, and Merel, have taken over the board from Marthe, Andrea, and Anne-Lotte. We are excited to get to know the sponsors and the students that Do Hawood is supporting! A while ago Florine came in contact with the former board members and became enthusiastic to take over as the new president and the formation of a new board. Merel and Marloes were interested in the foundation and decided to join!
We will shortly introduce ourselves!
Florine Jager (president, middle) is a medical doctor with a passion for Cardiology, after 1 year of working in this field she really is convinced to become a cardiologist. She is living in Amsterdam with her boyfriend and will soon start a new job, also in this beautiful city! Besides working she likes to play field hockey. For her medical internships she traveled to Nickirie, Suriname and afterwards traveled around in South America.
Merel Verweij (secretary, left) is a young doctor currently working on a PhD in the field of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam. Besides working she likes to run. During her internships in medicine she went to Tanzania and Uganda to work at the Emergency Department and in a clinic for malnourished children, and really developed a love for these African countries and people.
Marloes Jager (treasurer, right) is a graduate intern pursuing an MSc in Technical Medicine at the pediatric intensive care unit of Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam. Her medical volunteer work and internships in Tanzania and Nepal exposed her to the challenges of healthcare in low-resource settings. These experiences highlighted the critical need for well-trained healthcare professionals and inspired her to join the Do Hawood Foundation.
